2006 WriteMark Plain English Conference and Awards

2006 WriteMark Plain English Conference

Plain English is good for business and essential for democracy — and plain English makes sound economic sense

The 2006 WriteMark Plain English Conference aimed to:

  • raise public awareness of plain English
  • create public demand for organisations that communicate clearly
  • help delegates to work towards plain English in their own organisations
  • promote the importance of writing to an agreed plain English standard — either the WriteMark or an organisation’s own standard.

Who were the 2006 WriteMark Conference delegates?

More than 100 delegates represented banking, insurance, accounting, and publishing businesses and academic, legal, government, and medical organisations.

What happened at the 2006 WriteMark Conference?

The delegates enjoyed a full day’s conference that included:

  • a sit-down conference breakfast with keynote speaker Duncan Sarkies
  • four keynote addresses
  • twelve workshops
  • a glamorous 2006 WriteMark Awards dinner with master of ceremonies Kevin Milne
  • the 2006 WriteMark Awards keynote presentation from Amanda Millar.
