Matt is Senior Communications Manager at professional services firm Deloitte, the 2014 winner of the WriteMark Plain English Champion award.

In 2013, market research showed that Deloitte needed to lift its game in the area of quality documentation. In response, Matt led an internal initiative to build awareness of the importance of plain English. Deloitte’s subsequent win in the WriteMark Awards has cemented Matt’s standing as the firm’s ‘plain English guru’.

Matt has worked in communications and marketing roles in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors during his 20 years living in New Zealand. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Japanese from the University of Massachusetts, and a Master’s degree in business from Victoria University of Wellington.
