Barbra Kingsley, PhD, has 20 years of experience as an award-winning information designer. She has developed plain language documents for numerous government agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Veterans Benefits Administration, among others.
Barbra’s work has won awards from the Society for Technical Communication, the National Partnership for Reinventing Government, and the National Association of Government Communicators.
Coupled to her practical experience with the context and mechanics of design, Dr Kingsley has the experience of field-testing documents with end users for both cognitive complexity and for the usability of task and navigation. She has used this experience to develop practical, hands-on training that conveys both the conceptual framework of the principles of design and rewriting as well as its practical applications.
