The team members revised an enormous number of documents. They’re clearly proud of their company’s commitment to creating plain English documents.

Media statement

ANZ is delighted to receive the award for Plain English Champion — Best Individual or Team.

ANZ Wealth looks after the retirement savings of more than 550,000 New Zealanders through its three KiwiSaver schemes, and is responsible for some of New Zealand’s longest-running investment funds.

The finance industry is not well-known for writing investor documents and disclosure documents in plain English. ANZ formed a Plain English team — drawing on all parts of the business — to change this perception by developing market-leading documents that put the interests of our customers first. The team’s main goal was to take all the complex investor documents that were full of jargon and turn them into clear, concise and effective communications.

The team set some clear objectives to simplify and improve the style and presentation of the documents and ensure they are engaging and easy to understand.

The commitment and hard work of the team is clear from the number of nominations ANZ has received this year in the Plain English awards.

ANZ is proud to receive the award for best team. This recognises the efforts ANZ has made to improve the way we communicate with our customers.
