\nThis award goes to the technical communicator who demonstrates the best use of plain English in technical documents.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s your chance to be recognised for the contribution you\u2019ve made to producing clear, reader-friendly technical communications for your organisation or your clients.<\/p>\n

Each entry in this category costs $143.75 including GST or $74.75 including GST for registered charities. This fee goes completely towards running the Awards.<\/p>\n

What you need to know<\/h6>\n

You must live and work in New Zealand as a technical communicator, either in an organisation or self-employed.<\/p>\n

A panel of judges will evaluate a portfolio of your work using internationally accepted principles of plain English. These principles cover structure, language, and layout.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

What you need to include in your portfolio<\/h6>\n

You must include at least two whole documents in your portfolio, and you can include up to five samples of your work. Your work samples may include: user manuals, help files, technical information bulletins, fact sheets, or any other documentation that communicates technical information clearly. Your samples will preferably be in final published form.<\/p>\n

Choose samples that clearly showcase your plain English skills and show excellent structure, language, and layout. We encourage shorter entries. If you submit extracts from longer documents, please include the table of contents and front pages for context.<\/p>\n

For Help files or other online material, you can present excerpts as a combination of screen shots and text.<\/p>\n

For each sample, please attach a cover sheet that includes:<\/p>\n
