Judges’ comment

You have made a solid and sustained effort over 4 years, including systematic change. Your team is explicit about creating consumer-focused content. The organisation is to be commended for committing resources to reviewing and revising guides. You seek the feedback of your readers, by involving them in developing and reviewing documents. Inland Revenue has a fantastic plan! You have not been daunted by the mammoth exercise you have embarked on, but have prioritised the documents to review and rewrite.

Success at the 2014 Writemark New Zealand Plain English Awards

Inland Revenue is delighted to have a finalist in the Best Individual or Team category in this year’s WriteMark Plain English Awards.

The Awards aim to improve government and business documents so that all New Zealanders can understand them.

‘Inland Revenue is proud to have Lindsay Botham nominated for this award. Lindsay constantly produces clear, reader-friendly information for our customers, making it easier for them to understand their tax obligations,’ Group Manager of Marketing and Communications Andrew Stott said.

‘It’s important to us that we make tax easy for all New Zealanders, and I am thrilled that our efforts have been acknowledged in this manner,’ Mr Stott said.

Inland Revenue has several hundred tax and social programme guides, which are regularly updated following government policy changes.

Inland Revenue would like to thank the WriteMark Plain English Awards for recognising Lindsay and the contributions she has made.
